As title says, what item in the game gives 5k experience and 1250 gold?

AFAIK, it's a EotN item that's farm-able and trade-able.

Any ideas?

That is easiest one to get and lots of people sell them to people that are trying to get Surviver titles.

Are you sure? I think Prismatic Gelatinous Material is way easier to get then the Hammer of Kathandrax. Also, why would a survivor want to purchase hammers? You have to go all the way to the other side of Sacnoth Valley to get the quest and the reward. The Ooze Pit quest is right outside Doomlore.

My alliance does Kath SC regularly, so Hammers usually can be found (we do not SC ooze pit, as it would be pretty pointless since nothing great drops from the chest).

Also, if you save up all your hammers at once, you get a sin or something to run you to Kathandrax. The npc for rewards is 2 steps outside the entrance to the Kath dungeon, so you can zone in and out rapidly getting your quest rewards. The quest npc for Ooze pit, on the other hand, is a good 30 paces outside the portal, so its more of a hastle when exchanging say 200 quest items.

Are you telling me that there is a repeatable quest that requires an "item" that will then in return give you 5K XP and 1500 Gold? You turn in 200 hammers for 300K?

that's almost a stack of Lockpicks!

Um is this fast? I can not get to the wiki while at work so I can not view the page

The quest is getting the hammer, which you receive from the endchest of Catacombs of Kathandrax. It's only fast if you join a SC group.

Otherwise, you buy them for more than 1500 gold, otherwise people wouldn't be selling them...

The wiki says it can't be sold. Does that mean to merchants etc?

no it means that players will just use the hammer to get normal dungeon rewards.

Yes, it means it can't be sold to merchants. I've never done it but I had a friend say he bought enough from other players to essentially instantly max survivor, so apparently they can still be traded.

I've maxed survivor on a few of my characters using the Kathy hammer method, and i know of others in my alliance that are doing it. You just can't sell hammers to the merchants. Easy, easy way to get survivor. If you buy all the hammers at 2k each, max survivor only cost you about 84k total.

42*5k xp isn't 1,337k xp

I didnt say i only bought 84k worth of hammers. Besides the hammer gives you 7,500 experience, not 5k. =) If you start from 0 exp, you need 179 hammers to max survivor, minus 141k (rounded up) for lvl 20, thats minus 19 hammers. so 160*2=320k-240k (reward from turning hammers in)=80k. =)
